Element 25’s Butcherbird Manganese Project is located 130km south of Newman in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
IMC undertook the Stage 1 Civil and Earthworks including the following activities:
- Site access road including sealed intersection with Great Northern Highway, culverts and drainage, and installation of road furniture
- Construct TSF including 54 ha of clearing, 185,000 m3 of topsoil stripping and embankment construction
- Infrastructure pads including crushing pads, process pads, non-process facilities pads, ROM, radial stacker pad and stockyards
- Road construction including internal site roads, HV haul roads, mining pits and ROM ramps, and bore field access track
- Pond construction including HDPE lined water storage pond and settlement basins
- Miscellaneous works including set up of mining pits, set-up of waste dumps and road maintenance
IMC self-performed all the works and services except for the supply and installation of the HDPE liner, which was undertaken by a specialist subcontractor. The workforce peaked at 35 personnel and there were zero LTI’s and no environmental incidents for the duration of the works.
