Covalent’s Mt Holland lithium operations, located at the old Bounty Gold Mine in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, is targeting a production 380,000 tonnes of spodumene concentrate per year.
During the construction of the mining and concentrator operations IMC undertook the following construction activities:
- Construct new TSF including 130ha of site clearing, 700,000m3 of topsoil stripping and embankment construction and 1,800m of downstream seepage interception system
- Pond construction including HDPE lined water storage pond, evaporation ponds and settling basins
- Supply and installation of 2km water pipeline
- Road construction including access roads, HV haul roads and ROM ramps
- Drainage including culvert installations and stormwater drains
- Materials rehandle
- Crushing and screening
IMC self-performed all the works and services except for the supply and installation of the HDPE liner, which was undertaken by a specialist subcontractor. The workforce peaked at 40 personnel and there were zero LTI’s and no environmental incident for the duration of the works.
