PIL’s P1000 Project, located at their Pilgangoora lithium mine 140km south of Port Hedland in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, is targeting a production of 1 million tonnes of spodumene concentrate per year. During the construction of the P1000 Project IMC undertook the following construction activities:
- Construct Pilgan TMF Stage 3 including 635,000m3 of embankment construction, installation of 1,830m of tailings deposition pipework and reinstatement of southern access ramp.
- Construction of ANE and Carlindi Camp Access Road, a 5km access road comprising clearing, topsoil stripping, road embankment construction, 200mm thick crushed rock pavement, cement stabilised floodway’s, installation of 620 m culverts and associated drainage and installation of road furniture
- Warehouse and Guardhouse pads and access roads
- Construct NLO TSF Stage 5 including 430,000m3 of embankment construction and installation of 1,240m of tailings deposition pipework
- Detailed civil works including Tambrah Village ring road and bus shelter pad
- Infrastructure pads including bore hole pads, transfer station pad, communication tower pads and laydowns
- Pond construction including lined turkey’ nests
- Miscellaneous works including topsoil stockpile relocation and access road maintenance
IMC self-performed all the works and services except for the installation of the tailing’s deposition pipework and cement stabilisation of floodway’s, which was undertaken by a specialist subcontractor. The workforce peaked at 60 personnel and there were zero LTI’s and no environmental incidents for the duration of the works.
