After years of hard work, our Karratha contracts have successfully transitioned to Winyama Contracting Group, a local Traditional Owner business. At IMC, we have been actively supporting the development of Traditional Owner businesses in the area, with up to 30% of our spend profile directly benefiting growing Aboriginal companies. This aligns with our clients’ goals of investing in local Traditional Owners.
For the past 10 years, IMC has been involved in projects in the area, with indigenous engagement always at the forefront of our work. Our close relationships with the Ngarluma and Murujuga stakeholders have granted our leadership team access to these corporations and we are proud to see Winyama Contracting as the culmination of our efforts. Throughout this transition, we have ensured the continuity of safe delivery, providing peace of mind to our clients.
Winyama Contracting’s Director, Arthur Ramirez shares his thoughts on the share sale “After my grandparents unfortunately left the region many years ago to secure work , we are very humbled by the opportunity provided by IMCA that allows me to support local and fellow Aboriginal people from various nations. These projects enable their growth and inclusion in the thriving Pilbara area. We aim to teach them valuable skills for both the workplace and modern society, where we as indigenous people navigate two paths—upholding our culture while embracing modern life.”
IMC wishes the Winyama Contracting team all the best for the future.
